Sisters Part-Time Hifzh Classes

The purpose of this class is to enable sisters who may not be able to attend the full time Hifzh School to dedicate a time on a daily basis to the memorization of the Qur’an. Through this program, we hope to help the sisters of our community get closer to Allah through the memorization and understanding of His Book.

Structure, Days and Times

Class will meet Monday through Thursday, from 8:15 am – 10:50 am.  Students may choose from the following options of days:

  1. Mondays through Thursdays
  2. Mondays and Wednesdays
  3. Tuesdays and Thursdays

Calendar

This class will follow the calendar of the Hifzh School at Dar-us-Salaam.

Age Limit

The minimum age limit to attend this program is 18.  There is no maximum age limit.

Pre-requisites

Students who apply for this program should be able to read the Qur’an with reasonable fluency.   Applicants will be tested at the time of application.  If there is need for improvement in reading before entering the class, the applicants will be referred to attend the Qur’an Institute of Dar-us-Salaam until they attain fluency in their reading.

Tuition Fee

Based on the option that the student chooses, the tuition fee varies.  Following is the tuition fee schedule:

Application Fee:    $40 (non-refundable)
Four-day Option:    $230 / month
Two-day Option: (M, W or T/Th) $125 / month

Please note that students have to pay the tuition fee for all the months of the school year.  This includes times when the Hifzh School is off for Ramadhaan/Hajj or any other holidays, as well as for the time when a student may be on an extended leave.  Failure to do so will result in the student losing her seat in the class.  The two-day option gives students the option to select either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday.   All other options of days requires the student to pay the amount for the four-day option.

Policies for Registration / Withdrawal / Changes

  1. Students with full time status (meaning 4 days a week) will be given preference.
  2. Withdrawal notices must be given on or before the 5th of any given month for the students to be withdrawn for the following month.  For example, a withdrawal request received on March 3rd will allow the student to withdraw starting April 1st.  A withdrawal request received on March 6th – March 31st, will allow student to withdraw starting May 1st.
  3. The deadline for request to change schedule will also be the same as a withdrawal request.  There will be a $25 fee to change schedules.
  4. Only two (2) change requests will be entertained in a given year.

Application Procedure

To apply for the program, a student will need to fill out the Application Form in its entirety and attach the $40 application fee.  In addition, students must submit two Letters of Recommendation from their most recent teachers, or the Imam of their community.  Once the application is complete, they will be called for a short interview and a reading test to assess their reading ability.  Within two weeks of the test, the Hifzh School will inform the applicant about the outcome of the application in writing, Insha Allah.
