Quranic Arabic Summer Session – 2008

This class will cover Arabic Grammar, Arabic verb charts, most common Quranic words, and direct application to the analysis of the Quranic text. Beginning Date: Monday July 14, 2008 Ending Date: Thursday August 7, 2008 (four weeks) Class Day&Time: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday: 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. (class will meet inshaAllah three evenings a week)

Purpose


The purpose of this class is to connect muslims with the Quran, the book of Allah swt, promote the understanding of the Quran, and learn the wisdom of the Quran and how it reflects on our life.

Objectives


The objective of this class is to understand the meaning of the most common Quranic words. As a result a student would be able to understand the meanings of at least 50% of the Quranic text. In addition, the student will be able to understand the meaning of the text of prayer and most common supplications. Consequently, the student will realize the importance of studying Arabic for the understanding of the Quran and other acts of worship.

Basic reading of Arabic

Required - Quranic Arabic Made Easy by: Iffat Hassan, Iqra International Foundation, Chicago
Optional - An Easy Way to the Understanding of the Quran by: Dr. Hasanuddin Ahmed,    Iqra' International Foundation, Chicago

About the Instructor


Brother Basem Elzaawily,  a native speaker from Egypt, has been teaching Arabic for the last 6  years in the USA. He taught Arabic at Islamic schools as well as adult classes.
