Let's Make Our Building Safer For Our Children!

Alhamdulillah, we have good news to share!

Prince George's County granted us our temporary Use & Occupancy permit this past May. All the efforts of our building team supported by your duas and financial assistance paid off, Allahu Akbar !

The permit we received is a temporary permit valid for 6-months. We need to do some final required upgrades before the Fall season to get a permanent Use & Occupancy permit from PG County.

The three upgrades we must make are: (1) adding sprinklers in the main hall (2) increasing the capacity of our water mains to ensure sprinklers throughout the facility have adequate water available and (3) upgrading our fire alarms so they meet current fire safety standards.

These fixes are costly, but they are good for our community. We need our facility to be safe for the hundreds of adults and children who study, play, and pray in Dar-us-Salaam throughout the year.

Our estimate for these final upgrades is $100,000.  Remember, we have less than 6-months to bring what we call our home into compliance with PG County codes and standards.

We have almost completed installing a sprinkler system throughout the entire school building, but the water main that supplies water to our building is not big enough for such a large sprinkler system so we have been forced to upgrade the pipes to a larger size. This will require installing a larger water meter and water meter vault along with larger pipes. The Sprinkler system will not be approved with out this upgrade.
